Lead Platform Engineer

The Role
  
We’re looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to take ownership of the architecture and development of scalable backend systems powering an AI-driven platform.
  
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll combine software engineering with team leadership, helping shape the technical direction and setting the standard for how the business builds with AI and agentic workflows.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design and build scalable backend systems and APIs from concept through to production.
• Design and maintain microservice and event-driven architectures.
• Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, overseeing delivery and code quality.
• Drive the adoption of AI and agentic development practices across the engineering team.
• Work closely with the Head of Engineering on technical strategy and architecture.
• Build secure, performant and maintainable systems and data pipelines.
• Understand the operational workflows the platform automates and ensure the technology solves the right problems.

  
What We’re Looking For

• 5–8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally within AI, SaaS or automation.
• Strong degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Existing Lead Engineer experience or ready to step into a technical leadership role.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and NestJS, with strong REST API and microservices experience.
• Experience with Next.js would be beneficial.
• Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, AI agents and agentic workflows.
• Experience using tools such as Claude Code and AI-assisted development.
• Startup or high-growth technology experience, with a strong sense of ownership and autonomy.
• Proven ability to lead engineers while remaining highly hands-on technically.
